Appearing for AP ICET? Things to Know about the Exam

AP ICET official notification is likely to be released in the 2nd week of February 2018. The tentative date for the beginning of submission of the online application form will be in the 3rd week of February and the exam will take place in the month of May.

APICETis a state level examination and is conducted for admissions in MBA and MCA courses. Good rank in the exam will help the students in getting admissions to the best professional courses.

Who All Can Apply for the Exam?

The eligibility criteria must be fulfilled in order to appear for the examination. The eligibility criteria are listed below:

Applicant should have completed their graduation (10+2+3) with Mathematics as one of the subjects till 10+2 (For MCA).

Must have secured at least 50% marks (for general category) and 45% marks (for reserved categories) in their final examination.

Applicant must be an Indian national.

Should also fulfill the local/non-local status criteria laid down by Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions (Regulations of Admission) as 85% of seats are reserved for local candidates.

Should hold the state domicile of Andhra Pradesh. It is also essential for the students to obtain a Diploma in B.Tech/ Pharmacy from State Board of Technical Education of Andhra Pradesh. The students in their final year of graduation or degree or diploma are also eligible to apply.

Paper Pattern of APICET

The examination is divided into various sections such as Analytic Ability, Mathematical Ability, and Communication Ability. Analytic Ability and Mathematical Ability sections have 75 questions each. Communication Ability section comprises 50 questions.

There are around 20 questions from Data proficiency, 55 questions from the problem-solving section and 35 questions from the Arithmetic ability. In Mathematics ability section, the Arithmetic ability topic comprises 35 questions, Algebra and Geometric ability carries 30 questions, and Statistical ability 10 questions.

In the Communication ability section, Vocabulary topic covers10 questions, Business and Communication covers 10 questions, Functional grammar comprises 15 questions and Reading comprehension 15 questions.

Previous years’ trends

AP ICET 2017

In 2017, the first computer-based APICET was conducted in two slots. As per the exam takers, no technical glitches were reported. Apart from the mode of the test, APICET pattern and structure was same as the previous years. The question paper consisted of 200 questions to be answered in 150 minutes. There were three sections.

The overall difficulty level of APICET 2017 was moderate. In comparison to the last year, Analytical Ability and Mathematical Ability sections were tougher. Communication Ability was rated as the easiest one.

AP ICET 2016

In the year 2016, Data sufficiency part ranged from moderate to difficult. Analytical Ability portion was rated as easy, while Mathematical Ability portion was rated as difficult. Communication Ability was probably the easiest portion of the exam.
