TSPSC cancels notification on recruitment to Gurukuls

The Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) has cancelled its “controversial” notification released on February 6 to fill 7,306 vacant posts in residential schools (Gurukuls) in the state.
TSPSC officials on Thursday announced that the notification had been withdrawn in order to make changes to the rules applicable to the candidates who want to appear for the examination.
A new notification with revised guidelines will be issued soon. The notification issued on February 6 drew the ire of job-seekers as the TSPSC introduced a new rule saying that only those who graduated in first class are eligible to take the test under OC category while the eligibility for SC/ST/BC categories is a degree in second class.
Another proposal of the government to hold the preliminaries and the main exam only in English medium also led to much unrest.
Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had to intervene to pacify the agitated youth and  directed the commission to drop the new “percentage” rule.
However, according to sources, the TSPSC has now decided to issue a notification afresh after making the required corrections, suggested by the chief minister.
The notification was issued to fill 921 posts of PG Teachers (PGTs), 4,362 posts of Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs), Art Teachers, Craft Teachers, Music Teachers, Staff Nurses, PET Teachers, Physical Directors and Librarians in residential schools.
